Programme Overview and Goals
The Train-of-Trainer (TOT) Programme in China was initialized by the Lien Collaborative for Palliative Care (Lien Collab) and the APHN founder Professor Cynthia Goh. There're two main goals of this programme

Coverage
At least 90% of the graduating cohort will begin Palliative Care services 1 year from graduation

Utilization
At least 80% of the Clinician Master Trainers will start in-service training, training outside the organization and in the community within 1 year from commencing programme
Palliative Care Landscape in China

Quality of care
•No presence of accreditation and monitoring standards
•Availability of opioid painkillers – available but online licensed doctors can prescribe
•Availability of psychosocial support for patients and family – mainly by volunteers
•DNR available
•Shared decision making not done, collusion common
•Patient outcomes surveys used to monitor service quality in major hospitals
Community Engagement
•Public unaware of palliative care or associates it with euthanasia
•Medical community also unaware or have limited understanding
•Sufficient volunteer workers but not all are well trained

Current Progress
The 1st Batch of China training started in July 2021. Due to the Covid-19 situation, both fundamental teaching sessions and clinical case discussion sessions were conducted online in the form of webinars happening every week.
By the end of June 2022, the program in China has completed 40 hours of fundamental teaching sessions and 40 hours of clinical case discussion sessions, with the great support of 30 volunteering faculty from 5 sectors: Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Mainland China.
